About: There is an urgent need to make Europe’s critical infrastructure more resilient to the increasing impacts of climate change. Current methods for climate risk assessment do not fully consider regional complexities or interdependent systems. Therefore, efficient ways to identify risk-prone regions are needed to develop cost-effective adaptation strategies. The EU-funded MIRACA project aims to develop a decision-support toolkit that will assist authorities in appraising and implementing climate adaptation measures. The toolkit will consist of technical and economic analyses of adaptation strategies, a data workbench, an online interactive viewer and assessment of societal benefits. It will be tested in five different locations with varying infrastructures and hazard risks to confirm its effectiveness.
