Disaster Risk Gateway
Disaster Risk Gateway is an open-access and publicly editable wiki for the discovery and sharing of multi-hazard risk approaches and resources. The site is a collaborative platform for crowdsourcing and knowledge exchange from previous and ongoing multi-hazard risk projects and initiatives. Disaster Risk Gateway currently contains:
- A catalogue of examples of frameworks, platforms, methods, and tools for multi-hazard risk assessment and multi-hazard risk management
- Sourced definitions definitions related to multi-hazard and multi-risk terminology and concepts
- A list of resources signposting users to relevant multi-hazard risk information, projects, and initiatives.
Anyone with multi-hazard (risk) knowledge can create or edit pages by registering for a user account; no previous wiki-editing experience is required. We welcome a range of contributions, from the creation of pages on specific approaches (for instance a tool or method) for multi-hazard risk assessment or management, including examples of application, to information on relevant projects and initiatives progressing multi-hazard risk assessment and management. All new pages and edits are quality assessed by the admin team; please contact the Disaster Risk Gateway Admin team if you are interested in becoming a site administrator (contact details below).
Disaster Risk Gateway was created as part of the MYRIAD-EU project within Work Package 1 (Diagnosis: establishing a common understanding of terminology, concepts and approaches and perspectives on multi-hazard risk assessment and management). The site is designed to be used by researchers, practitioners and educators across the disaster risk and climate change communities. The ambition of Disaster Risk Gateway is to become a community managed single point of access for discovery of multi-hazard risk approaches, resources, and definitions of terminology and concepts. It also presents opportunities for strengthening collaboration between multi-hazard risk networks, bringing together multiple perspectives on existing tools, methods and approaches, and legacy for multi-hazard risk projects.
Disaster Risk Gateway v 1.0 was launched in November 2022. The site is hosted by the British Geological Survey. A new version of the site is in development (Apr-Dec 2025) to enhance the appearance, organisation of content and functionality.
