Add a new approach in three easy steps:

Step 1 - Create a new page
  1. Type the title of your new page into the Search box in the banner at the top of the page. This should be the title of the approach you are adding.
  2. This will open up a search results page which will state that there are no results for the text you typed. Below this you will see the text: 'Create the page "TITLE OF YOUR NEW PAGE" on this wiki'.
  3. Click on the 'TITLE OF YOUR NEW PAGE' (which will appear red as a page that does not exist yet). This will create the page, ready for you to add content to.
Step 2 - Add content to your new page

The easiest way to add content is to use the New page template. That way you do not have to worry about formatting. The template is also available in the box below:

During the wikithon, there are two ways you can publish new pages. Or, if you are comfortable using a wiki, you can skip the Practice publishing step and publish directly in the Disaster Risk Gateway main pages.

  1. Click on Show preview at the bottom of the page to review your changes / additions. Please be aware of copyright and ensure you have not directly copied any text from a source without permission. Any contributions you make to Disaster Risk Gateway are with the understanding that all materials you provide (text, images etc.) will be publicly available and are required to follow the content standards. See Terms of Use.
  2. When you are happy with it, click on Save changes
  3. Practice publishing:
    1. Navigate to Practice publishing by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
    2. Click the Edit icon in the top banner of the page.

An example is given in the Practice publishing page.
  4. Publishing on the Disaster Risk Gateway main pages:
    1. Navigate to the Main page by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.
    2. Click on Multi-hazard Risk Assessment or Multi-hazard Risk Management depending on where you feel your approach is best located. You can add a link to your page in both categories if appropriate.
    3. Click the Edit icon in the top banner of the page.
    4. Copy and paste the text below into the editor box at the bottom of the list, and replace ADD TITLE HERE with your page title, and ADD DESCRIPTION HERE with a short summary:
[[ADD TITLE HERE]]: ADD DESCRIPTION HERE
  5. Your new page will be publicly visible, but with a note at the bottom stating 'page not yet patrolled'. The Disaster Risk Gateway team will review and approve or reject publication. Please be aware that the Disaster Risk Gateway team retain the right to reject or edit any contributions. We will contact you though the Disaster Risk Gateway if there are any issues with your submission.
